Time to Unfold

How many times will He show me to wait on Him? Why do I rush to fix, to figure things out, to explain. Why do I believe I deserve closure in all things. Better yet, why do I believe my ways and especially my timelines are better than His? Because I’m still trying to control. Where is my trust … in Him or in Me?

I stress preparing for the festivities leading up to Christmas. I love visiting with my family and having them all here … it’s the desire to have everything perfect and wonderful for them. It’s also the selfish desire to be the perfect host.  What I’ve learned over the years is when I do all the planning, I leave little room for Jesus to do something magical and unexpected.

Christmas is not a Day, it’s a Season. It takes a Season for big things to unfold. This is not a three second download. Imagine if Mary became pregnant with child, Joseph got ticked off, they got back together, a baby was born in a manger, the wise men were already there, and the things prophesied about came to light all in 48 hours. I need more time than that. I allow more time for the Bachelorette to unfold.

I’ve had a few things come up in 2020 that will carry over into 2021. They are taking time to unfold and I don’t like that. And then again, He has his way of showing me there is abundance and goodness in His timing. I strategically plant an amaryllis bulb every year in time for the bloom to happen on my Birthday. When it blooms on December 23rd, my family is here to see it and enjoy it through Christmas. But this year, it didn’t bloom on December 23rd. I woke up Christmas Eve and it was the first thing I thought of … still no bloom. On Christmas morning one flower began to open but by the Seventh Day of Christmas, four flowers were open and a second and third stalk had sprouted.

I was ok with one flower as long as it would have come on December 23rd. Now I have four and more blooms in the process and God whispers to me once again, “Wait on Me and I will give you More. My ways, my timeline is better.”

God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ephesians 3:20-21

What are you waiting on? Will you trust him to provide an even better solution, more good? Are you willing to wait on Him? Practice by taking this Christmas Season slower. So much prep for just one day. But it wasn’t one day … it took many days for his birth to unfold and twelve more days for the wise men to reach Him and declare it all! Trust His timing and allow time to unfold the Significance of the Christmas Season and whatever season you are walking in right now.
